The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.– Albert Einstein

It was interesting reading the article because it was really informative and I learned a lot about how someone could become paralyzed. I have a cousin that has something similar to being paralyzed but I am not sure what it's called. When he was born the doctors made a mistake and he hurt the back of his neck coming out of his mother and he is not completely paralyzed because as the years go by and he has surgeries and physical therapy. When he was younger he couldn't walk at all. He used to crawl everywhere but now he uses a walker and sometimes he can walk for a few minutes before he falls. He can also drive. He passed his permit and drives a regular car. I am not sure if he wold be considered paralyzed but he did have an injury to his spinal cord and it still effects him every day of his life.
I found this article amusing because I was confused about the actual effects of being paralyzed. I never understood how someone was paralyzed because you can not regrow neurons. I now know that when you are paralyzed, you are damaging your axons. The number of spinal cords injuries amazed me because it is a large number. It truly amazes me when people are paralyzed and then are able to walk. This article brought interest to me because I did not know a lot about the topic.
Estoy de acuerdo (I agree) that this article was very interesting. Becoming paralyzed is a very serious and dangerous thing, and it is scary to think about how my life could be impacted if I ever became paralyzed. Whenever I think about being paralyzed, it does not seem like as big of a deal to me as it really is, but the effects that come from being paralyzed are mind blowing, and it is unimaginable having to think about it. The article was very informative, and I found it fascinating that there has been research and different treatments for treating paralyzed people for hundreds and hundreds of years, some of which is still used today. I enjoyed reading this article because it gave me more awareness of how severe breaking a part of your spine, or getting nerve damage in general can be, as it can be dangerous, and life effecting
I found this article really interesting like Devaughn said we don't really think about the effects of paralysis like other things. Also I found this interesting because I don't really think of medicine and medical practices being used for hundreds of years like I just think of modern medicine only being created recently but clearly there have been some medical practices that have been present for years. I really find it fascinating how far we have came in the medical field and now we have treatments to help those that were told they were never going to walk again. It really does make you rethink how fortunate you are to have all your senses work and have the ability to do things. I also agree with Devaughn's statement that how important these features in our body are and that we don't really realize it.
