I thought this video was really interesting and kind of freaky to watch. I couldn't believe the octopus was able to use his testicles to walk around and carry the shell. I could not get over how fast he was also walking. It was also interesting to read about how "tool use" was once only seen in humans but they then discovered it in octopus.
I think it's interesting that the veined octopus has the intelligence to use two halves of a coconut to both be mobile with it and use it in need of protection, camouflage, and hunting purposes. Its amazing how the octopus can use tools for its advantage similar to the way humans use tools.

I found this video very interesting, have to admit would never think an octopus would do that. Its like the octopus has spidy senses knows when to get in the shell when he senses danger. Its kind of funny because we rarely see organisms in the ocean caring items around in the water such as the coconut. This is a great way for the octopus to survive.

I thought this video was pretty interesting. It was cool to see how one animal can use its own traits and characteristics to "mimic" another animal. I was amazed at how fast and efficent the octopus was with the coconut shell. I expected it to move slower, however it was amazingly quick. In the article it said the octopus used the shell as protection and its clearly shown throughout the video when it shows the ocopuis hiding itself within the shell.

ReplyDeleteMy first thought when watching the video was that the octopus hid in the coconut shell to help get food, but after reading the article, the octopus used the shell for hiding purposes. The most interesting part of the video was seeing the octopus walking with the coconut shell because of how funny it was.
I found this video very interesting because I would have never thought that an Octopus would have the strength to carry a half of a coconut shell around at all times, and definitely would have never thought that this Octopus would have the smarts to use it as a way of protection.Overall this video opened my eyes to the brain of the Octopus and also the way ocean creature scavage for protction.
